Natren's Healthy Trinity has helped my family and many families I have worked with in helping with a number of stomach issues.  Some of the conditions that have experienced help by taking Natren Healthy Trinity regularly were:

  • IBS
  • Diverticulitis
  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Gas
  • Acid reflux
  • Candida
  • Chrones
  • And other intestinal disorders
Because Natren's products are high quality and potent we have found that initially we could take the 1st bottle everyday, and after that we moved to every other day and as a maintenance we are now taking it once a week.  Results will vary for each person and I recommend listening to your body to find the combination that works for you.

Why I went Paleo?

Why I went Paleo...after years and years of trying to figure out what was causing my pain?  I finally decided that all of my troubles had begun on the inside. Whether it was something I was getting too much of,  not enough of or the fact that certain foods just do not agree with me I realized that I needed to pay attention to what my body was telling me.  Mine was saying "you are allergic to dairy and gluten".  "You don't process sugar properly and if you don't stop eating things that contribute to your pain you will get sicker".  I had two choices be stubborn and try to be like everyone else, or stop causing my body so much pain.  I chose to look into ways that could help me live without the pain.

I have lived with endometriosis pain for the past 10 years.  The pain that I used to regularly experience would always start just over the right hip and it would nag at me.  Generally, this pain would get worse if I ate any type of acid forming foodsAcid forming foods are generally anything that is not a fruit of vegetable.  I wouldn't say I was addicted to sugar, but it doesn't take much to create inflammation and endometriosis is all about inflammation.

Another thing I discovered was that I had Candida. Signs of Candida (yeast overgrowth) can hide from you unless you are really paying attention and then other times the signs are so blatant that it is undeniable.  Ultimately if you live on the true American diet...dairy, sugar, wheat, meat and all things acid forming then you too are most likely full of Candida.  For me I found out in the middle of the night when my thumb started throbbing.   The pain was so unbearable I honestly wanted to chop it off.  The first thing I did was grab my bottle of tea tree oil and soak my thumb in it until it was substantially numb and I could finally relax enough to go to sleep.  After that evening I realized that again my body was talking to me and trying to let me know that I needed to change something.

Then there were those monster migraines.  I have lived with migraines my whole life but until a few years ago I did not realize that it was food that was causing many of them.   When I started to look at the foods I was eating and how my body responded after, I discovered a pattern.  My body naturally does not like foods that are not good for me which generally include all dairy and gluten products.  Maybe I am just super sensitive, or maybe it's my bodies way of protecting me from the things I shouldn't be eating anyway.

I really struggled with this concept.  I can honestly say it has taking me many phases, over several years and taking baby steps to get to where I am now with food.  I did not want to believe that I was any different than anyone, why couldn't I eat what I wanted?  Why did it have to be so complicated?

Complicated or not... I soon learned it's what you make of it.  I was not educated on foods that would be good for me, of course I had a basic understanding of good food, but I really did not understand why it was better for me.  I did not fully understand how important it is to not only avoid the foods that make me sick, but to make sure I eat the right foods that can provide my body with important nutrients.  So I decided to dig a little deeper and look at the nutrients I may be deficient in, by doing an elimination diet it was easy for me to discover what I should not be eating.  By analyzing my symptoms it became easier for me to determine what I needed to add into my diet to help me overcome my health issues. As time has gone on I have been able to adjust my diet and supplements based upon my current state of health.

The goal is to get your body to alkalinity.  Disease and disorder do not like alkalinity.  To achieve this goal you should focus on eating 80% raw and 20% meat.  Just fixing your ph balance alone can change your outlook and health.

While on this journey I was also introduced to "The Paleo Solution" by Robb Wolff, by a friend who has been in the nutrition and health business for over 22 years.  After reading the book I got a much clearer picture on how anyone could virtually change their lives for the better by simply going back to basics with food and following this book.

Another issue I have been asked repeatedly is how do you afford to eat this way?  Honestly, I spend less than I ever had before because we are not buying the processed foods any more.  We make our own meals so the portions are closer to what we actually need.  I spend less time going to doctor's and I don't have a need for expensive medications.  When you take care of your body from the inside out all of your disorders have a way of disappearing which eliminates your need to spend money on anything other than just staying healthy.

The key to reclaiming your health, your body and your life is in your tummy.  Learn more about how you can help yourself by visiting my 'alkalinity chart', do your research, and build a regimen that works for you.

How to stop those allergies..

It's one thing to suffer from allergies, it's another to know that there is an all natural way to find relief from it and not to at least try it to see if it will work for you.  I've been suffering from allergies my entire life.  I finally broke down and tested the all natural way and couldn't believe that it worked.  My entire family has been on zyrtec, benadryl, allegra and claritin d we have now switched to taking 2 fenu-thyme capsules and 2 nettles capsules daily during seasonal distress.  This is a great solution to help get you on track.

Finding out that there was an all natural remedy really helped me make the switch and the best part is that the solution comes packed with vitamins, nutrients, is an anti oxidant and can help your bodies ability to digest proteins because it is plant food.

Realizing how important plants are we have gone ahead and started sprouting Fenugreek, growing Thyme and buying Nettles in bulk.  This has become such a great solution we felt it necessary to incorporate the actual plant into our every day meals.

Please continuing reading to discover more ways of reducing your allergic response and building your immune system.

Allergies, a histamine problem?

What are allergies?  What is a histamine problem?

Do you suffer from any sort of allergy, eczema, rhinitis (constant runny nose), hay fever, asthma, hives, headache, nasal congestion, itchy eyes, skin eruptions and many other problems, your body may be releasing excess histamine.

Histamines can cause different problems for different people.  What triggers a histamine response? Dust, pollen, foods or environments.

Most traditional methods only mask the problem alleviating your symptoms, but in fact the problem still exists and is only waiting for your medical treatment to wear off.

Why does an allergic response occur?
A toxic body is more likely to be attacked by an allergic response than a healthy non toxic one. For example, if you eat too many foods that create inflammation (cakes, cookies, sweets, artificial foods, fatty foods, alcohol) or too much red meat (as an example) your body will be busy trying to digest and detoxify, thereby exhausting its resources and not being able to deal with other things (pollen for example).

Toxicity exhausts the adrenals and your adrenals are one of the main glands of your body and an important one in fighting "inflammatory" problems, such as histamine release.

Here's how to beat the histamine release naturally...

It is very possible for you to change the way you live and eat slightly better to have a body more geared up to stopping histamine release.

Imagine a world without allergies.   Histamines are triggered by the slightest stimuli. Stick to the advice below for at least 3 months to give your body a chance to recover and rest. You will see results way before that.
  1. Cut down protein intake, especially animal proteins. Try and cut it to around 10% of your daily calorie intake. Excess protein is a drain on your body's resources. You need to cut it down so your body starts resting and not be in a constant over-active state.
  2. Cut out all dairy, wheat and gluten products.  They are major contributors to inflammation and that can make it difficult for your body to function in a healthy capacity if it is fighting inflammation.
  3. In the morning, drink a full glass of distilled water with some lime or lemon juice squeezed in. This is great for a gentle liver cleanse it is also a great way to start your body off in an alkaline state. Drink plenty of water everyday, the water can actually help your body decrease the histamine release.  Many people who suffer from histamine problems are not drinking enough water.
  4. Cut out ALL artificial sweeteners. This means those found in diet drinks, many foods (low fat/no fat) and chewing gums.  They are all toxic to our bodies.
  5.  A diet high in Quercetin and flavonoids such as grapefruits, lemons, berries, onions, parsley, green tea, and red wine is especially good.
  6. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish, flax, hemp, borage and evening primrose oils are especially good as they decrease inflammation.
  7. A diet high in garlic and onion is very beneficial.
  8. Foods high in vitamin C and Bromelain are excellent. Vitamin C is a natural anti-histamine. Eat oranges, tangerines, fruit juices and pineapple. Keeping in mind to watch your sugar intake, as any food that translates to sugar can actually produce an inflammation response in the body. If you find you are taking Bromelain on a regular basis you may want to also increase your iodine sources with kelp, spiriluna, cabbage, sea salt or iodoral.
  9. Monitor your body. Keep a journal so you can mark what you ate and the response you got. This is a great way to eliminate items that may be contributing to your histamine response.

…and here's a remedy to stop allergies that has worked for many:

Go to your local health shop and pick up capsules or tablets for the following:
(if you'd like a good one to buy online just click on the supplement name)

Nettle extract
Vitamin C
Fenuthyme
Quercetin
Bromelain

This may all sound like a foreign language, but once you get started and you start seeing results you'll know that you can manage your allergies without the use of medications and give your body a healthier way of dealing when it becomes overwhelmed.

Everyone absorbs differently and results may vary.  However, for those that I know who have tried this they have all experienced relief from their allergies.

How to choose a probiotic & why we need them...

Natren ProbioticsWe live with bacteria everyday and our body actually needs beneficial bacteria to help our immune systems function in it's highest capacity.    Your tummy is one of the most complex eco systems to understand and study.  Therefore reinforcing the numbers of the beneficial bacteria such as lactobacilli and bifidobacteria becomes an essential daily health objective.

Yes you will find lactic acid bacteria in yogurt however,  it is not the most effective source of probiotic bacteria because the yogurt makers do not guarantee the potency of beneficial bacteria and unless you are buying unsweetened your body will be fighting the damaging effects of sugar as well.

The idea of beneficial bacteria to preserve foods has been around for centuries. Even the ancient Sumerians painted about the use of fermented cheese in 2500 B.C. However, the idea of beneficial bacteria aiding us in life wasn't created until the early 1900s when Dr. Elie Metchnikoff traveled to Eastern Europe. He was surprised to find many people living to be 100 years of age or older and concluded that this was due to the large quantities of yogurt they consumed.

Probiotics literally mean "for life" and are coming to the forefront of medicine as beneficial bacteria supplements to help restore our vital microflora.

Before you pick your next probiotic, learn as much as you can about it, not all probiotics are created equal.    Here is a list to use when selecting your probiotic.
  1. Look for the International Good Manufacturing Practice certification (cGMP), which will ensure that you are receiving the highest quality probiotic that meets unequaled standards. This also guarantees that the product has been tested for potency and safety in all stages from the culturing of the bacteria through the printed expiration date.
  2. You must also look for a potency guarantee for each strain listed on the bottle label through the printed expiration date. The listing must include the strain, not just the genus and species. Without the strain listed, you may be getting a worthless bacteria.
  3. Probiotics must be stored and shipped refrigerated for the bacteria to live. Several probiotic companies claim that they have shelf-stable products but these have never been proven effective.
  4. Purchase only a probiotic with its supernatant (culturing medium). This provides nourishment for the probiotic and has been found to increase the benefits of the probiotic by up to 50 percent.
  5. The packaging is an important way to keep the bacteria protected. Dark glass bottles and tin lids protect the probiotics from the damaging effects of light and moisture.
Personally, I have done my research and found that  Natren "Healthy Trinity" has been the best to meet my needs, and in helping others through many health issues like IBS, diverticulitis, acid reflux, candida, chrones, and other intestinal disorders it has proven to help improve and ultimately change their lives for the better.

Optimal health starts from the inside and probiotics can help you achieve this.

How I'm beating Endo

Here's how I'm beating it...
1.  Live alkaline. Alkalinity is important as it will reduce inflammation and the ability for inflammation to rule your body
2.  Here are a list of the cleanses I have gone thru.  I did each one separately with about a month in between each one.  For all cleanses I f\removed meat from the menu while on the cleanse and went all plant based.
  • Yeast cleanse first because it gave me immediate results (took 5 months to get rid of the candida, but candida is the cause of many of our disorders).  For more information on candida you can find it on mercola.com or google it.
    • Probiotics (1 daily - Natren or Garden of Life)
    • Yeast Cleanse - by solaray (follow the bottle)
    • Chlorophyll (2 x's daily 1 tsp to an ounce)
    • Nutrition - focus on veggies (as much raw as possible) fruits (grapefruit, lemon and berries) nuts, seeds and fish (NOTHING ELSE)
  • Gallbladder cleanse
    • Lemon and Olive oil before bed (you can get a recipe for this online) Drink it right before bed and lay on your side
    • Gallstonex - by Solaray (follow the bottle)
    • Probiotics (1 daily - Natren or Garden of Life)
    • Chlorophyll (2x's daily - liquid)
    • Nutrition stick with Yeast cleanse diet
  • Kidney and Liver Cleanse
    • Milk Thistle (follow the bottle - liquid)
    • Marshmallow root tea ( 1 tsp to 1 tblspn in a cup of hot water - heat the water add the marshmallow - blend in a blender and drink - tastes like lima bean :) )
    • Dandelion root (tablespoon in the am/pm)
    • Total Kidney Cleanse - by Solaray (follow the bottle)
    • Probiotic (Natren or Garden of Life - 1 time a day)
    • Chlorophyll (2 x's daily - liquid is best)
    • Nutrition - stick with yeast cleanse diet
  • Heavy Metal Detox and Overall Colon Cleanse
3.  Exercise
5.  Meditation
6.  Yoga
I've done all of these cleanses in the last year and have focused on the 6 listed items.  I finally feel like my body is starting to heal and get better.  The endometriosis pains are gone and I now manage with the following items:

DAILY MUST HAVES TO FEELING GREAT:
Fish Oil twice daily
Multi Vitamin - whole food

For a daily diet
The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf is the best book to get your hands on, and we have seen many people change their lives with it's help.  You can balance alkaline and proteins while giving your body the best chance at beating the inflammations.

This has been my solution to a long painful journey.  If you decide to try this for yourself please keep in mind we all have our own rate at which we heal and absorb.  This is a lifestyle change and not an overnight fix.  If you have serious complications or concerns you should always consult a natural path physician for help.
